The Alliance for Liberty and Equal Rights to the Earth is a network of academics and activists dedicated to the study and promotion of geoism. Our approach is to present the idea of geoism in a very simple way, as the philosophy of Liberty and Equal Rights to the Earth<\/strong>, or even more succinctly, Land and Liberty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nicolaus Tideman<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Co-founder<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nicolaus Tideman earned his PhD in economics at the University of Chicago, had various positions at universities and was a Senior Staff Economist for the Council of Economic Advisors. Since 1973 he has been at Virginia Tech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has published about economics and public decision-making and is the author of The Needed Moral Revolution<\/em>, published in the 2016 book Rent Unmasked<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nicolaus Tideman lives in Blacksburg, Virginia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martin Jacobson<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Co-founder<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2024 Martin Jacobson finished his PhD thesis Land and Liberty<\/a><\/em> at Uppsala University in Sweden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has published about the philosophy of geoism, anarchism and effective altruism. He is a visiting fellow at the Norwegian Nobel Institute<\/a>, and he will spend 2025\u20132026 as a guest researcher at Virginia Tech University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michiel Buddingh<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Co-founder<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michiel Buddingh works as a software developer, and has always been critical of the way our society treats rents as a fact of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He feels that geoism would open up new perspectives in people\u2019s minds if it were more widely known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeremy Boer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Jeremy Boer is a French geomatician and former teacher of history and geography at international schools such as the English School of Mongolia<\/a> and Bordeaux International School<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has also worked with the NGO Acting for Life<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is the administrator of the X account Parti Georgiste Fran\u00e7ais<\/em> and the Discord server Henry George Forum<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, he is the editor of a new translation of Progress and Poverty<\/em> in French<\/a>, and author of several articles on Substack<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barend Gehner<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Co-founder<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barend Gehner is a lecturer in crop production in the Netherlands. In addition to sustainable agriculture, he is interested in liberty, geoism and old sailing ships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He and his family lived on a historic sailing ship for a number of years, and he thinks it\u2019s important that people can live in the way they prefer, whether in a house, a van or a boat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is the author of the 2024 book On Liberty and Earth Ownership<\/a><\/em>. The Dutch version is Over vrijheid en hoe we de aarde bezitten<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
